A few years ago a request for a rental minivan was a rarity; today it is one of the most sought-after categories in our fleet, especially in the warm season and around the holidays. The shift is no accident: the way people travel around Moldova has changed, and 7-seat vehicles answer exactly those new needs. Here is what we see from behind the counter, and which models are worth considering.

Who rents minivans and why

Tourist groups

Moldova welcomes more and more visitors travelling in groups of 5 to 7: friends touring the wineries at Cricova, Milestii Mici or Purcari, extended families in town for a wedding, groups combining Chisinau with Orheiul Vechi and Soroca. Two small cars mean two drivers, two fuel bills and a split group; one minivan means everyone together, luggage in the back.

Large families

Three children, two car seats, a pushchair and a week's luggage for Vadul lui Voda or the grandparents' village: an ordinary sedan cannot cope. A minivan solves it with one vehicle and, just as importantly, one driver.

Events

Weddings, christenings, conferences, festivals: organisers need to move guests between hotel, venue and airport, and a minivan does in two runs what would take four taxis. At corporate events impression matters too, which is why the premium models get booked weeks ahead.

Companies

Field teams, foreign delegations, staff transfers to a site outside the city. For a business, a minivan rented by the day or the month is cheaper than an owned minibus that sits parked between projects.

What a minivan gives you over a regular car

  • Seven proper seats, not five plus two emergency ones, with legroom in the third row too.
  • A boot that takes everyone's luggage, and with the third row folded it becomes almost a van.
  • One driver, one tank of fuel, one parking fee for the whole group.
  • The freedom to set your own route, with no organised-tour timetable.
  • A lower cost per person than any other transport option for 6 or 7 people.

The models we recommend

Mercedes-Benz V-Class

The choice for anyone who wants business-class comfort for the whole group. Leather interior, automatic gearbox, a quiet and economical diesel on long drives, and seats that can be turned to face each other for a meeting on the move. It is the model companies and wedding planners ask for most. See the Mercedes-Benz V-Class in our fleet.

Dacia Lodgy 7-seater

The pragmatic option: a frugal diesel, manual gearbox, seats that fold in seconds and a daily rate close to that of a compact car. It is the favourite minivan of families and groups of friends who want space without paying for luxury. See the Dacia Lodgy.

How to book

Minivans are few in any fleet and they go first on weekends and in the summer months, so booking at least a week ahead is a good idea. At toprent.md you pick the model, the dates and the pick-up point (our office, the airport or your address in Chisinau), and we confirm availability within minutes. Child seats and a second driver can be added to the booking.
